181: Real talk & collective anxiety
BY Monica Yates
There’s a lot happening collectively in the world right now, we’re all very aware of that. We have all the COVID shit happening, on top of our life dramas and new things in life that make our nervous system and our body feel a bit ‘ooooh’ by the ‘unknown’.
LISTEN TO EPISODE 181 NOW
I’ve mentioned before, I’ve never struggled with anxiety. However, for the last 4 or so days, I’ve been struggling. I’m very fortunate that I have the ability to really compartmentalise. So what that means is, I’m able to separate the way I’m feeling to my work. I’ve trained myself to have a lot of masculine discipline with my work, as well as the feminine flow. So my clients will still get the vibes, the breakthroughs etc, and I’ll still get shit done (I don’t go into a victim state) .
What I’ve been feeling lately is a whole heap of anxious energy and I’m 100% sure it’s collective. I put a question box on my Instagram and I had an explosion of people saying ‘OMG, me too’. A lot of us our experiencing the collective anxiety that’s really heightened at the moment, plus life anxieties (I’ve had a few things pop up, good, bad, new, frustrating etc). The life update is, if you’re feeling this too, you’re not alone. I wanted to share this with you because I don’t want you to think that my life is perfect in NY, or that I’m immune to the stresses of what is happening right now with the changes in society and all of these yucky things that are going on in the world. I’m not ignoring them. I’m not superior. I do feel these things, I just don’t put them on my Instagram, exacerbate them or draw attention to them.
The point of this episode is to share that life isn’t all rosey. I’m having down moments, and in these down moments I’m also having bliss. I’m having this weird-ass feeling and I’m also having amazing things that are developing within my life. So, it’s not black and white, it’s not one or the other, it’s everything together.
Try and create a bubble where the rest of the world doesn’t matter in that moment. Try and create those bliss moments because they will take the load of your nervous system, even if it’s just for 10 minutes. It will be helpful, it will be grounding, it will be nourishing. It can feel jolting coming out of it, but I also want to extend the invitation to you guys to FEEL. You don’t need to know what the anxiety is about, you don’t need to pin-point it, you don’t need to fix it. What I do want you to do is let yourself feel it. Cry, let yourself get angry towards a pillow, take a day off, drown yourself in movies so you can be sidetracked. These things aren’t wrong to do. They are allowing you to feel, and not ignore it.
This will pass.
